Position: Junior PostgreSQL DBA Salary: to £25,000 Location: Nottingham

Job description:

The role will primarily involve configuring, integrating and maintaining our various database systems, however the successful candidate will work closely with our development teams to ensure that applications which use the database run reliably and well.

Experience required:

1+ years' experience working with relational databases E.g. PostgreSQL/MySQL
1+ years' experience working with scripting languages E.g. bash, Perl, PHP
Good working knowledge of relational design, query optimisation, stored procedures, triggers
Good working knowledge of Linux
Interest in technology including Server, Storage, Networking

Desirable:

Relevant university degree (computing, software engineering)
Experience with Agile methodologies

Key Responsibilities:

Assist developers with query/schema optimisation
Manage and deploy schema changes
Monitor database environment and take action where issues occur
Maintain, develop and improve both new and old systems
Respond to user problems reported from IT Service-desk
