R&D Product Engineer

Overview
The R&D Product Engineer applies his/her educational knowledge with process and product experience to design, develop, validate and release product for production in the areas of Low Pressure Gasoline Fuel Injectors, High Pressure Gasoline Fuel Injectors, ExAT Injectors and related components.

Core Responsibilities
•Follow the Continental Engine Systems Process House and Design for Six Sigma practice in the development of new products and processes.
•Defines product requirements from customer requests.
•Creates concepts and evaluates them in relationship to customer requirements.
•Validates new design and processes to meet all Engineering requirements.
•Recommends new specifications, new processes or design changes to meet requirements
•Prepares product for production following all Continental requirements.
•Interacts with interdisciplinary team members to aid in the Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality and Logistics of the product and components for production.
•Evaluates and communicates technical and/or commercial issues to team members and the customer.
•Organizes and completes project tasks
•Illustrates documents and communicates various engineering procedures through prepared charts, graphs, diagrams and formal Engineering reports.

Additional Responsibilities
•Participates in a team environment interacting with and driving fellow team members to successful project completion.
•Follows Conti protocol to ensure positive work environment. Ex. Office 5S
•Manages complex project tasks and leads tactical planning for task execution
•Participate in Conti training and staff development completing required activities.
•Interacts with manufacturing locations worldwide, including some travel.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
•Automotive engineering experience preferred
•Automotive manufacturing experience desirable
•Knowledge in gasoline fuel injector system standards and testing practices
•3+ years of demonstrated success in a Product Engineering role
