Manufacturing Planner International, BU Body & Security
1) Mission / Purpose of position
The Manufacturing Planner (MP) leads and/or performs all manufacturing related activities of complex projects within the Project Life Cycle from acquisition (until series production (G90). His/Her main activity is to ensure the manufactaribility, costeffectivness and quality of the product.
2) Areas of responsibility / Task
# Acquisition and Quote
• At acqusisition phase the MPI is consulting the development teams regarding manufacturability and M costs
▪ At quotation phase, the MPI is responsible for the manufacturing quote (Manufacturing Concept, CommTool with Invest, and Labour Minute, Technologies) for projects with LT sales >10mio €
▪ Check Product Design for manufacturability (Hardware, Testing, Mechanical Design)
# New Product Launch
▪ At Launch Phase is MPI member of Product Development Core team
▪ Responsible according ODCL (Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Manufacturing Concept, Manufacturing Costs with Invest (LCA) and tetime, Production concept and invest definition,..)
▪ Develops and maintains the Operations Plan in accordance with the valid processes (phases, deliverables, gates, etc.) thoughout life of project. Achieving the agreed operations objectives.
• Provide Manufacturing Timing Milestones/Timing plan
• Tracking and reporting of industrialization status (Cost, Timing, Quality)
• Project communication and escalation for industrialization, sample builds, production readiness in case of missed Milestones
• Reporting in TMKD database
• Drive compliance to Design for Manufacturing guidelines and Rules (Design rules, LEAN aspects and robust processes)
• Drive Plant Kickoff, DfM Workshop, Lean Check Workshops, LCA Concept, Capital Request (Part Production), LRA (MPI coherence check)
• Project lead for manufacturing issues, Interface to Plant and Focus Factory
• Support of Plant Launch Team
• Communication Interface for R&D to Production Location
• Act as coach for NPL activities and methods for plant team.
# Series Production/Lifetime Support
▪ Support of series production at Case of Trouble Shooting, Change Management and Ongoing Improvement
▪ Support Product Transfers
▪ Support in reaching of KPI targets in launch phase (till G90)
▪ Support at capacity shortage issues (inter plant balancing)
# Special Task's
▪ Lean Projects (continues improvement, Training Plant Team's)
▪ Initiation of needed Mtechnology projects
3) Competencies Required knowledge
# Technical (Advanced)
General knowledge about all common manufacturing technologies for electronic manufacturing
Experience with introduction of different product types in manufacturing
Knowledge in electronic and mechanic components
Knowledge of all valid desing specifications, CNs and preferred manufacturing technologies
# Specialized (Advanced)
Knowledge of general standards (TS16949, Project Mangagement Handbook, …)
# Methodical (Advanced)
Knows existing processes and rules and internal decisionmaking structures
Knows the methods, tools and contact persons for leading and managing the project (int./ext.)
Knows Continental and its environment, the corporate strategy and its goals
# Methodical (Basic)
Skills in project management
Experience in presentation, moderation / training and negotiation techniques
Intercultural experience and solid language skills
Applies effective time management and is capable to set the right priorities
Lead and manage all manufacturing aspects of a project within the specified time and budget
4) Required experience
# Education / Certification : Bachelor in engineering or comparable technical subject
# Professional Experience : More than 3 years professional experience in automotive electronics manufacturing
# Project and/or Process Experience : More than 2 years as MP (Manufact
