Development Lab Technician

Job Description

Lab technician position to perform tests on conveyor belts and their components in support of continuous improvement and R&D work. The position will report directly to the lab manager (Ms. Joanne Prose) and take direction on priorities from her. Work will primarily be in the lab environment but will require interaction with the CBG manufacturing facilities to obtain samples, MDRs, raw materials, and any other items that are necessary to perform the requested tests.

Experience working around lab and manufacturing equipment preferred by not required. Ability to learn the detailed operation of various pieces of test equipment a must. In addition, must be detailed oriented in order to perform the tests with knowledge and record the results with accuracy. Detailed training will be provided for the specific tests that are required to be performed.

There is a portion of the job that requires the manufacturing of samples to work in the various lab test equipment. The qualified person must be able to use knives and other tools safely while completing this work.

Efficiency and accuracy in running the various tests will be required to satisfactorily perform the job.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma with some post-secondary course work.

• Minimum of three (3) years experience in an industrial testing laboratory or associated technical or quality field.

• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Two or four year degree or certification in technical field of study.

• Demonstrated proficiency in multiple laboratory testing and/or inspection methods

• Functional competency in the following computer applications: MS Excel, MS Word, Lotus Notes, SQCpack, equipment control software, SAP purchasing, ARIBA Buyer.

• Communication skills (written, verbal, active listening, interpersonal)

• Leadership potential (communicate and execute policy, goals and objectives, provide behavior example)

• Demonstrated ability to both learn and teach laboratory test and inspection methods.

• Experience working within a registered quality management system.
