SCOPE OF POSITION
The General Manager leads ConeTec Australia, overseeing safety, business development, HR, finance, operations, and client relations. The role ensures efficient, safe, and profitable operations while fostering continuous improvement and client focus.
OVERALL GOALS FOR POSITION
To position ConeTec as Australia's top site characterization contractor, the General Manager will:

ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Strategic Planning & Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage budgets, meeting financial targets.
- Identify process improvements, cost savings, and optimize resource
- allocation, including equipment management.
- Monitor KPIs to guide data-driven decisions.
- Report performance updates to the CEO and contribute to cross-divisional projects.
Business Development & Client Relations
- Champion the ConeTec brand and educate clients on services.
- Build client relationships through proactive engagement.
- Conduct presentations and proposals.
- Lead regional business development to drive growth and retention.
- Represent ConeTec at industry events and collaborate with educational institutions for recruitment and development.
Operations & Project Management
- Enforce HSE practices and promote safety.
- Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, logistics, and execution.
- Prepare proposals and competitive quotes.
- Manage project delivery for accuracy, timeliness, and quality.
- Ensure equipment maintenance, compliance, and a safe shop environment.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead and mentor the team, fostering a high-performance, safety-first culture.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training.
- Conduct evaluations, set goals, and manage development.
- Recommend competitive compensation structures.
- Resolve conflicts, manage dynamics, and promote retention.
- Foster a diverse, inclusive workplace.
Business Administration
- Ensure insurances, certifications, and licenses are maintained.
- Review and execute contracts, mitigating risks.
- Verify project records and ensure accurate payroll data.
- Ensure timely invoicing and follow up on receivables.
- Analyze safety, operations, and financial performance reports.
- Oversee efficient execution of daily business functions.
Desired profile
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Geological, or Mining), Geology/Geophysics, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (e.g. CPEng, RPEQ, P.Eng.) or Professional Geologist designation is required.
- Post secondary studies in business administration and/or equivalent experience is considered an asset.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in related industries.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing people and teams.
- Demonstrated capabilities in business development, client engagement, and relationship management.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
- Experience with risk management and change management in operational settings.
Technical Skill Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
- Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to conduct meetings and presentations, written reports, and training materials.
- Geotechnical knowledge of foundations and mine tailings, with specific emphasis on soil and tailings characterization.
- Demonstrated experience in project management.

- Demonstrated leadership ability, focusing on developing strong and resilient teams producing excellent results.
- Strong understanding of and ability to apply business principles to a dynamic organization.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including strong presentation skills.
