Back Office Transmission Engineer
- The prime function of this role is to ensure effective management, operation and development of the customers Transmission and IP networks spanning all relevant technologies and specifically focused on the impact and delivery of the VoLTE (Voice over LTE) service. As a 3rd line function the key focus is on proactivity, service improvement and customer/vendor collaboration. With an underlying responsibility to provide operational support and insight to the 2nd level support teams.
Back Office Transmission Engineer - Responsibilities:

- Proactive identification and development of operational processes, tools and applications.
- Service/network development (cost, quality, performance)
- Network/service performance - Develop/review/creation of metrics/measures which reflect performance within the various OSI layers, interfaces and end to end service flows and aligned where possible with end user experience.
- Accountable for deep dive analysis covering network and service performance identifying changes in behaviour which affect the end user or optimal function of the network/service.
- Own and drive the resolution of issues escalated from 2nd line or through analysis of key data sources driving the necessary changes and recommendations through design, customer investment programs, deployment activities, external agencies (Vendors/lease line providers etc.).
- Support & own development and improvement within the FO and BO teams aimed at key milestones within the Incident life cycle (detection, impact, and restoration), service and network performance and cost of operation to Ericsson in delivery of the service.
- Responsible for identification and assessment of risks within the network/service. Creating relevant documentation/material which defines the scale and severity of the issue and provides a clear set of options and recommendations which can be presented to the customer.
- Accountable for identifying and supporting key "up sell" opportunities with the customer(s), owning and driving were necessary the delivery to the key influencer group/individuals.
- Act as the "service champion" ensuring design/NTSI and change activities are following best practice reducing the risk to the network/service and were necessary driving changes to process, systems, tools or organisational ownership.
- Accountable for optimising of the interface and support provided by 3rd party vendors driving and owning improvements which reduce the time taken to resolve impacts or risks to service and/or proactive management of the network.
- Active engagement - developing and maintaining interfaces with key groups and individuals within the customer and supplier organisations aimed at driving or influencing decisions which impact the operation/performance of the network.
Back Office Transmission Engineer - Essential
- In depth understanding of key transmission technologies used within the customer networks covering operations, performance and design.
- Detailed knowledge of IP and relevant routing protocols with a clear understanding of the interaction between different variants and delivery of end to end service flows.
- Good functional understanding of key elements within 2G/3G/4G networks with a clear understanding of the end to end service flow.
- Good understanding of ITIL incident, problem, change and service introduction principles and practices.
- HNC/HND within Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Operation & Maintenance, implementation, integration, operations, support or testing environment.
- Certification to CCNP/ IP Network expert level.
