Job description
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager to work within a busy chilled meal assembly site for Compass Group. As Quality Assurance Manager you will report into the General Manager and will lead, manage and develop the QA department to ensure all food produced is safe, legal and meets quality standards and customer specification.
The product, Steamplicity & Esteem is going from strength to strength and is heavily used within healthcare and education contracts, both within Compass and external customers. As a result of this growth there is lots of potential to progress in this role and within Compass.

To work Monday to Friday 7am to 330pm / 8am to 430pm
Main responsibilities
- Lead, manage and motivate the department, coaching and encouraging people to achieve results
- Motivate and develop the QA Team by setting individual and departmental objectives to encourage the achievement of goals, identifying skills gaps and initiating recruitment and training as appropriate.
- Monitor and review Quality Management & H.A.C.C.P system versus legal requirements and EFSIS standards, in accordance with Kerry and Customer codes of practice. Implementing changes as required, in order to maintain due diligence.
- To review and enforce all codes of practice requirements and relevant Company Policies, through auditing and corrective action that will maintain due diligence and result in continuous improvement.
- Plan resources and take corrective actions to address shortfalls within budget, up to six weeks ahead to meet known technical requirements, including new products, processes, QA department staffing and skills.
- Liaise cross functionally to resolve operating technical problems and drive improvements in factory standards.
- Liaise and communicate with Training Officer on Company Quality training standards to support effective skills and knowledge in all employees.
- Generate and maintain a set of technical K.P.I’s for the site that measure performance against EFSIS standards, Compass and Customer codes of practice.
- Management and control of customer product specification and factory recipes.
Ideal candidate
- Ideally Food Science / Technology Degree
- Proven successful leadership of a Q.A department
- Food manufacturing safety & hygiene legislation
- Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Knowledge and experience of Good Manufacturing Practice
- BRC Audit Knowledge and experience
