Security Engineer – NIS2 / SecOps (Charleroi, Hybrid) - Freelance

Job description

A public-sector player in the Walloon water and utilities sector is strengthening its cybersecurity team and is looking for an experienced Security Engineer to reinforce its day-to-day security operations.

Working closely with the CISO, you will help operate and improve the organisation's security posture in a NIS2-driven context. Your typical week combines hands-on SecOps and a more architectural view: monitoring and tuning SIEM/EDR alerts, contributing to SOC activities, hardening systems and firewalls, supporting IAM topics and Azure security, and helping translate ISO 27001 requirements into concrete technical controls. You will also interact with an MSP operating in a multi-client environment.

Desired profile

1) 5 to 7 years of experience as a Security Engineer / IT Security Specialist in operational security environments | 2) Strong hands-on skills in SecOps: SIEM/EDR, SOC processes, firewalls, system hardening | 3) Solid knowledge of NIS2 and ISO 27001, with the ability to translate requirements into technical controls | 4) Good command of IAM and Azure security topics, and comfortable with security architecture concepts | 5) Experience working alongside a CISO and/or an MSP in a multi-client setup is a plus | 6) French native speaker, with technical English | 7) Autonomous, rigorous and a clear communicator
