Job description
Summary: Operates steel-wheel and/or rubber-tired compaction rollers used in the construction of highways, city and county streets ,airport runways, parking lots, and similar excavation, utility and construction projects.
Ideal candidates will have the ability to travel with overnight stays away from home and willingness to work in all types of weather conditions. Candidates will work on crews in Wyoming and Colorado .This is an excellent role for candidates with experience on asphalt crews as laborers and are willing to take on a new challenge and develop in the role.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
• Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
• Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, steel-drum rollers, rubber-tire rollers, and other mobile equipment used in completion of construction projects
• Operate the Breakdown roller to massage hot mix asphalt into place
• Operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
• Perform minor equipment maintenance inspections such as greasing, checking oil and fluids
• Drive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized
Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• One to three years’ experience and/or training in operation of heavy equipment operation preferred
• One to three years' experience operating Breakdown Rollers, Rubber Tire Rollers, and/or Finish Rollers
• Knowledge of Rollers and other heavy equipment
• Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
• Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
• Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods
• Frequent exposure to loud noise
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration
• Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
• Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
• Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
