Job description

Reporting to the Field Engineering Manger, Cofely Fabricom Inc is looking for a:
 
VIE
- JUNIOR FIELD ENGINEER  (M/F)
 
Based in Edmonton (Canada),
This is a position available for European citizens on the Volontariat Interne en Entreprise (VIE) scheme for a period of 18 to 24 months.
 
  RESPONSABILITIES:
Learn to provide technical support to project teams, including review of client-supplied documentation, calculations, recommendations and interpretation of applicable codes.
Assist with the preparation of execution plans, schedules and budget estimates and update job plans.
Creation of a material take-off, determining quantities of material to be ordered and communicating any consequences concerning the materials to the CSI.
Preparation of work packages to translate the engineering documents in the work to be executed by construction (through drawings, lists, sketches,...).
Translate questions or remarks regarding engineering into technical queries.
Initiate variation orders if variations to the contract are detected.
Set the example that priority is given to safety; ensure working methods conform the Guidelines and Procedures of the Quality Management System.
Document Control
- Record as-built data, based on the feedback from construction and personal inspection data. Give as-built information back to construction and testing.
Collect and organize final documentation as required by the contract. Responsible for the determination of extra-works in close cooperation with the Construction Superintendent and Document Control, by collecting and organizing final documentation as required by the contract.
Provide assistance to site management with constructability reviews of future projects.
Assist Quality Control with site inspections, document turnover, and completion of as-built drawings.
Support construction supervisors with detailed planning, coordination and building of field installation work packages.
Any and all other construction related learning will be done on the job site. It is the responsibility of the employee learning to have an open mind and be available to take on other tasks as part of their education.

Desired profile

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Piping or Industrial Engineering degree or related discipline.
Technical skills:
Preliminary understanding of Project Controls and Scheduling.
The willingness to learn various engineering and constructability design methods, materials and associated Construction systems and processes.
Willingness to learn about automated warehousing, planning, quality control, welding processes and NDT. Piping engineering experience and E&I experience are a definite asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of cost and risk control techniques, and project delivery alternatives for large capital projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; Microsoft Project and Primavera software experience is desired.  Ability to work with proprietary project management software and systems effectively.
