The Business Entity


Managed Services and new consumption models are key to the future growth and profitability of a large part of Cisco's portfolio. With the shift toward "X-as-a-service" consumption, a new group within Cisco Services has been formed and all managed services and cloud operations capabilities are being consolidated into this group. Within this group, we will establish Cloud Infrastructure Operations - a team driving our central hosting strategy and infrastructure ops, which will eventually power product/services delivered to Cisco customers and partners around the world.



The Team


Cisco Cloud Infrastructure Services seeks self-driven individuals to play a vital role in implementation and operation of hosting environments leveraging virtualization, automation and orchestration technologies. This position requires knowledge of all aspects of data center hosting including server, storage and networking principles and architecture. The ability to work closely with IT architects and senior engineers in the architectural design, analysis and application integration work for new deployments is also required.



Role & Responsibilities


This role will be responsible for the ongoing Operations of a live environment that uses Openstack, KVM, Ceph, RHEL, Ubuntu and Cisco's UCS product. This role demands a specialty in Database Administration (DBA). Expectations include working QA and Engineering counterparts to improve high-availability and scale requirements.



Minimum Qualifications


● Working knowledge and experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef for configuration and orchestrion


● OpenStack Experience


● Working knowledge of open-source databases like mySQL, mongoDB, Apache Casandra, Trove


● Experience in designing and managing large server environments


● Advance knowledge in OS internals


● Experience in deploying and managing virtualization technologies (ex. Vmware or KVM)


● Clear understanding of networking and storage principles and architecture


● Linux OS system administration experience


● Provide advanced troubleshooting of OS and hardware components


● Outstanding customer interaction skills required


● Excellent verbal and written communications skills


● Ability to work across cultures and time zones



Desired Skills


● Cisco Certifications a plus
