Job description

Postdoctoral research position in Immuno-Oncology and T cell engineeringContexteThe Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of five Swiss university hospitals. Through its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and the EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the areas of medical care, medical research and training.
Our Department of oncology UNIL-CHUV brings basic, pre-clinical and translational clinical research together in a spirit of innovation. It includes the services of immune-oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, hematology with the bone marrow transplantation activity of the CHUV, and the Center for Experimental Therapeutics (CTE). It is also integrating the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR) Lausanne Branch, that has started an ambitious cancer research program in the field of immunotherapy.
The laboratory “Targeted immunotherapies for hematologic malignancies” headed by Prof. Caroline Arber Barth (http://unil.ch/dof/arberbarth) is recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow for a project recently funded by Swiss Cancer Research (Krebsforschung Schweiz). The project is focused on a novel T cell engineering approach to target multiple myeloma. Mission
You develop new approaches in engineering human T cells for cancer immunotherapy targeting multiple myeloma, and you will characterize T cell function against myeloma cells as well as components of the bone marrow microenvironment
You perform the immunological characterization of the engineered T cells with state-of-the art immunological techniques as well as novel techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing, mass cytometry (Cytof) or time-lapse imaging (fluorescent or confocal)
Your goal is to deeply analyze and characterize the molecular programs of these engineered T cells in response to tumor and/ or microenvironment stimulations.
You validate the anti-tumor function of the engineered T cells in vivo using mouse xenograft models (with cell lines and patient-derived xenografts) and study their impact on the bone marrow microenvironment.
You prepare scientific reports for oral and written presentations in English
You support also different projects in the laboratory by assisting the Principal Investigator with student or research technician supervision in the laboratory.
Profil
You recently obtained a PhD in immunology or cancer biology
You are competent and independent in cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry (FACS) and other classical immunological techniques.
A previous experience with Cytof, fluorescent, confocal or ‘high content’ microscopy is a plus
You have previously worked with mouse models (xenograft or immunocompetent) and have a certificate LTK1 or equivalent.
Your excellent capacity to organize your work and your time management skills complement your scientific rigor and your sense for precision.
You keep well-organized track records of all the experimentation you perform
You are a dynamic and goal-oriented person and are actively looking for and proposing solutions to problems you encounter during your experimental work.
You like working in a highly competitive and challenging international environment in which flexibility, polyvalence and capacity of adaptation are needed on a daily basis
You have excellent communication skills in English (oral and written) and working knowledge of French.
You have a good working knowledge of standard software such as Microsoft office, Flowjo, Graphpad Prism, Snapgene, Endnote.
