PhD immunology, assay development and validation
Functieomschrijving
Position
The scientist main responsibility is to ensure the timely and correct sample analysis of clinical samples, either in house or outsourced to CRO’s or partners. For outsourcing, the scientist is responsible for the technical and scientific evaluation and selection of candidate partners, and for monitoring the outsourced activities. For in house activities the scientist is responsible for the design, coordination and execution of assay development and validation, and for the organization of the clinical sample analysis. The required activities must be executed, documented and reported according to Good Clinical Laboratory Practise (GCLP) quality requirements. The scientist will supervise one or more technicians.

Requirements
Qualifications:-
- PhD in biological/medical sciences and experienced in immunology and/or oncology
- 1 year of experience as a scientiest working in a (bio)pharmaceutical company, or contract reasearch organization
- In depth knowledge of immunological assay development, qualification and validation according to ICH guidelines
- Hands-on experience with T-cell assays and/or virus neutralization assays
- Hands-on experience in mulitplex assays like Luminex, MSD is an advantage
- Experience in clinical development of drugs/vaccines
- Communicative skills, fluent in English. No Dutch required
- Management skills to supervise and guide a small team of technicians
- Trained in GLP, GCLP or GMP is an advantage, but training is provided in house
- Kknowledge of statistical programs as R, JMP or SAS is an advantag
Competences:
- The right candidate is quality minded, flexible, shows initiative and is a team player. Experienced supervisor for technicians and/or experienced in clinical trial development.
- Working 4 days is possible.

Organisation and Department
The Clinical Immunology department is responsible for the immunological evaluation of vaccine candidates in clinical trials. Hereto, the department defines the immunological strategy supporting the clinical development, and ensures the development, and validation of the required immunological assays, and clinical sample analysis. Typical assays to determine the immunogenicity of vaccines are the antibody ELISA, T cell ELISpot, Intracellular Cytokine Staining, and virus neutralization assays.
