Sr. Oracle DBA

Position Description
CGI is looking for a Sr. Oracle DBA to join our Federal Business Unit to support our Security, Administrative, Judicial, and Enforcement (SAJE) Programs Team. This DBA will work with other members of the DBA team supporting a large number of Oracle databases and projects at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Activities will include: database migration and upgrades; Operations and Maintenance (O&M); database security enhancements; mitigation/remediation of IT Security findings; data center server maintenance, data center shutdown and other support activities; application Disaster Recovery (DR); and database development/release. Your future duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Follow and help maintain a formal Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP) that provides technical management controls needed to meet cost, performance, and schedule requirements.
• Perform database migration efforts, which may require updates of operating systems or other related software. Efforts may require documentation for pre-migration plans, updates to database design documents, documentation of post-migration testing and acceptance, updates to core components, alignment to the Library’s Enterprise Architecture, and assessments of migration impacts to applications, network, servers, storage, IT security, and production system downtime.
• Perform database upgrades to Oracle 12c multi-tenancy on AIX/Linux platforms.
• Provide ongoing O&M by supporting daily database monitoring and administration, responding to assigned service requests (ServiceNow ITSM), and tracking/closing assigned service requests.
• Work with ISSOs and other DBAs to implement database security enhancements to mitigate or remediate identified security vulnerabilities.
• Support scheduled data center shutdowns and alternate site activations for contingency management.
• Support database DR exercises for contingency management.
• Perform database development in association with database release packages to include environment preparation and package deployment into test, staging, and production environments. Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The candidate will apply expert working knowledge of database design, implementation, performance optimization, database migrations/upgrades, and administration of databases over full system lifecycles with the following specific experience:
• Advanced Oracle DBA experience with Oracle 12c, Oracle 11g on Unix/Linux platforms
• Administration and maintenance of enterprise database systems
• Unix/Linux Shell Scripting (BASH, KSH)
• Oracle Enterprise Management, Grid Control, Cloud Control
• Oracle Rman, DataPump, Export/Import, Data Guard
• Oracle database Security Hardening
It is also essential that the candidate possess the following:
• Ability to engage with clients and work with multiple development teams.
• Demonstrated competence in analysis and problem solving principles with emphasis in user relations, data gathering techniques and management information applications.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
• Detailed-oriented with proven time management and organization skills, with a demonstrated ability to achieve results.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desired:
• Oracle DBA experience in Siebel Public Sector
• Experience using monitoring tools such as: Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), TOAD, Unix/Linux shell scripts for monitoring, Prometheus, Netcool, NetBackup, and Recovery Point
• Experience in Federal or Legislative branch system application development lifecycle Build your career with us.
