Position Description

CGI is responsible for building world leading IoT platforms for various telecoms businesses and we are looking to grow our team. This opportunity is ideally based out of our Reading offices but flexibility to travel is essential

Your future duties and responsibilities
CGI’s platforms provide solutions for all market sectors, such as smart metering, in car entertainment, telematics, device tracking, and end consumer products amongst many more.

As a Solution Architect you will be responsible for owning the design of new solution components and/or the re-architecture of existing components. You will play a key role on various engagements and develop appropriate end-to-end solution architectures to agreed standards, ensuring compliance with higher level architectures, constraints, software, data and business architectures as needed.

The Solution Architect will bridge the gap between the technical and business teams, expertly defining, validating and promoting quality solutions for an opportunity, bid or project as required.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
This role will suit an IT solution architect or senior designer who was a broad range of experience ideally in the IT side of telecoms. You will have demonstrable experience of using cloud based technologies and big data solutions. Java based technologies experience would also be a nice to have. Due to the broad range of requirements, we will consider IT architects and designers from a broad range of backgrounds. This role is more suited to an Applications and software delivery focused Architect rather than a Mobile Networks or Infrastructure focused Architect.

Previous Architecture within the Telecoms sector is highly desirable but not essential.

The role will be based in Reading, and the other time remote working would be possible. A flexible attitude towards travel is essential, as there will be occasions when travel to other CGI offices or client sites is necessary.
