Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join our team at CGI Montreal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and delivering architectures, particularly in the banking sector, and extensive expertise in mainframe technologies.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable solution architectures.
• Plan and execute platform or application migration projects.
• Create architecture diagrams, design documents, and interface specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
• Present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
1. Architecture and Design:
• Proven experience in designing and delivering end-to-end solution architectures.
• Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Experience in planning and executing migrations (e.g., platform or application migrations).
• Strong skills in creating architecture diagrams, design documents, and interface specifications.
2. Mainframe Expertise:
• Extensive experience with mainframe technologies (e.g., COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, IMS).
• Understanding of integration between mainframe systems and distributed applications.
• Experience supporting production environments and transformation projects.
3. Banking and Financial Services:
• Experience working in the banking or financial services sector.
• Familiarity with core banking systems is a significant asset.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Experience working with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, application development, and data teams.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Proven experience in client-facing projects and stakeholder engagement.
5. Agile Project and Delivery:
• Experience working in agile delivery environments is an asset.
• Participation in backlog development and technical steering committees.
• Ability to provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Communication:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in English (mandatory); proficiency in French is a significant asset.
Additional Qualifications:
• Proven experience with core banking systems – a major asset.
• Active contribution to IT projects, production support, and client-oriented business activities.
• Confirmed experience as a Solution Architect with significant exposure to mainframe environments.
• Ability to design solutions addressing scalability, environment migration, and resilience challenges.
• Experience in projects covering end-to-end architecture: infrastructure, applications, data.
• Excellent documentation and modeling skills (architecture diagrams, interface specifications, design documents).
• Ability to interact with technical and business stakeholders, presenting solutions in language tailored to each audience.
