Position Description

CGI are recruiting for a Solution Architect to join our team in Glasgow combining both technical Solution Architecture and pre-sales engagement as we continue to grow our footprint in Scotland.

All candidates must be able to readily commute to our Glasgow office, and sufficiently flexible to be able to travel to other sites as and when required.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The Solution Architect will join a cutting-edge digital transformation programme effecting real world change in Glasgow, in a role combining technical solution architecture and pre-sales engagement (for example solution shaping, high level designs and bid support).

There are a variety of projects to work on, including Open source projects where we require the successful candidate to be developing high level architecture and solution designs that are robust yet flexible.

Coupled with designing high level solutions, the successful candidate will be supporting the technical pre-sales function, providing estimates and contributing to bid work, working closely with the software engineering teams to ensure the ultimate solution delivered and mapped to client needs.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The successful candidate will offer solid Solution Architecture expertise within enterprise environments, evidenced in the production of High Level and Detailed Design Artefacts and Architecture documentation, ideally with formal architectural methodologies (e.g. TOGAF or Zachman) with a mature approach to requirements management capability and benefit driven design approach.

Technically we’re looking for a broad technical background - Agile and test driven delivery, Middleware, Data Services, SOA, Contemporary Web Applications, Open Source, RDBMS and NoSQL would be of interest. Previous experience in pre-sales environment supporting sales teams and efforts contributing to bid proposals in terms of estimation and documentation are required.

Any DevOps processes, automated deployment, cloud architectures, contemporary big data concepts, modern data analytics and/or experience within local government and/or digital business transformation advantageous.

You will be a motivated and dedicated team-player, able to work alongside teams and also have the drive to work independently. You will show a flair for creative and innovative solutions to difficult problems. As a Solutions Architect we would expect you to help drive many of those innovations and forge the strategic technology direction of the centre. You will probably have come from a developer background with a strong understanding of modern software engineering tools and techniques. You will also have excellent communication skills, able to discuss and present complex technical information with colleagues and customers, at all levels of technical competence.
