Job description

Role Title: Software Architect

Business: CMB Credit & Lending - IT

New or Existing Role: New

Grade: GCB5

Role Purpose

· Accountable for shaping the architecture domain roadmap within Programme and leading development of respective discipline within the CMB practice for data management.

· This key responsibility within this role is to Maintains database by determining structural requirements; developing and installing solutions.

· Manage proof of concepts, exploratory projects to identify, evaluate and eventually adopt most suitable solutions
· Expertise in developing, refine, and execute the software strategy and roadmap.
· Should be able to lead Technical Architecture reviews in coordination with the Lead Solution
· Recent experience in Architecture, Design, and Implementation of highly scalable, highly available, Cloud (SaaS) services and solutions.
· Experienced with Java, modern frameworks and polyglot tendencies.
· Working knowledge of building Microservices using a leading technology stack such as Spring Cloud, Spring Boot
· Experienced in working with SQL and NoSQL databases such as: MS SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, CosmosDB
· Experienced in building APIs with OAuth, Tokenization, Encryption
· Experienced in developing or leveraging API Gateway (e.g. APIGEE) for runtime governance and security of backend services
· Experienced in usage of monitoring tools like Splunk, NewRelic, AppDynamics
· Comfortable with technical implementation to high-level architecture.
· Familiarity with modern engineering practices e.g. TDD, BDD, CI/CD, PaaS, Cloud (Azure)
· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal for technical and non-technical audiences.

· Determines structural requirements by analyzing operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives; evaluating current systems;
· Develops solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
· Installs systems by developing flowcharts; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions.
· Maintains performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions.
· Prepares users by conducting training.
· Provides support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
· Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Leadership & Teamwork

· Lead the transformation of testing into a continuous and efficient end to end quality development function using quality processes, tools, and methodologies significantly improving control, accuracy and integrity.

· Responsible for team mentoring and reporting to the DevOps team.

· Demonstrate leadership on Regulatory & Compliance matters. Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

· Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, and optimising relations with regulators.

· Implementation of the project at aggressive timelines

· The need to quickly mobilise a solution to meet the demands of Business Sponsors

· In the initial phase heavy reliance on vendor resources

Management of Risk

· Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behaviour
