Position Description: The Configuration Manager The role focuses on the operational lifecycle environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep Configuration Management expertise, hands-on experience with server maintenance and a strong ability to work across internal stake holders
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Own and maintain all server/VM, messaging platform (IBM MQ, Open MQ, Kafka), WebSphere Application server, Tomcat and code configuration documentation.
• Implement and manage change control for messaging resources (queues, topics, access permissions), server resources, and deployments.
• Monitor server and messaging platform health, CPU utilization, and resource usage; proactively address performance bottlenecks.
• Set up and manage access controls for servers, messaging platforms, and code repositories.
• Track and audit changes to server configurations, messaging resources, application deployments, and code repositories.
• Coordinate with development and testing teams to schedule deployments and maintenance windows. This includes locking of servers for performance test, an efficient way needs to be derived.
• Establish backup and recovery procedures for critical resources (e.g., Kafka topics, MQ queues, databases).
• Communicate planned changes, outages, and incidents to all stakeholders.
• Regularly review and optimize server and messaging platform usage, recommending scaling or resource allocation as needed.
• Maintain Git branches:
- Enforce branching strategies (e.g., feature, release, hotfix branches).
- Review and approve branch merge and deletions.
- Clean up stale or unused branches.
- Ensure proper access controls and permissions for repository management
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Must-Have Skills:
• Experience with server administration (Linux/Windows), application deployment, configuration management tools, and Git.
• Strong understanding of change management and version control best practices. (ITIL good to have)
•Experience in working with distributed teams
•Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
•Strong communication and collaboration skills
Good-to-Have Skills:
•Experience with IBM MQ, Open MQ, Kafka administration and monitoring Tomcat, IBM WebSphere application server.
•Familiarity with databases and cloud/on-prem infrastructure.
•Ability to troubleshoot performance, access, messaging, and code management issues.
•Knowledge of Oracle database
Education Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or higher with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
