QA Automation Consultant

Position Description:

At CGI, we are seeking a skilled QA Automation consultant with hands-on experience in building, executing, and maintaining test automation frameworks. The ideal candidate will be a quality-first mindset professional with strong experience in automation testing, CI/CD integration, and agile methodologies. You will play a key role in driving quality assurance standards, supporting continuous delivery pipelines, and ensuring high product reliability across web and API layers. This is a permanent fulltime role based in Atlantic Canada on a hybrid basis (2-3 days in a week onsite)

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automation test scripts for functional, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Prepare and contribute to automation test plans, test strategies, and detailed test cases.
• Utilize automation testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent.
• Perform load, performance, security, and end-to-end testing to ensure application robustness under varying conditions.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Use GitHub for version control, collaboration, and code reviews.
• Define and implement QA automation standards and best practices across teams.
• Work with Jira Xray for test case management, execution tracking, and reporting.
• Implement Cypress tests for frontend validation and maintain UI test coverage.
• Develop and maintain BDD tests using Cucumber and Gherkin syntax for improved collaboration and test readability.
• Track and report automation testing metrics such as coverage, defect density, and pass/fail rates.
• Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar frameworks.
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in collaboration with stakeholders, business analysts, and end-users in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 4+ years: Automation test scripting
• 3+ years: Test planning and case creation, automation testing frameworks, performance/load/end-to-end testing
• 2+ years: CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), GitHub version control, QA automation standards implementation
• 1+ year: Jira Xray, Cypress, Cucumber/Gherkin (BDD), API testing, automation test metrics, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in multi-stakeholder environments
