Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a talented Database Developer to join our team. As a key member of our US Courts client project, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing database solutions to ensure data integrity, consistency, and performance.
You will work closely with data analysts, IT staff, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide database solutions.
This position is located in Arlington, VA.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Database Installation and Configuration:
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
Performance Monitoring and Tuning:
Monitor database performance and implement performance tuning.
Optimize SQL queries to improve database efficiency.
Backup and Recovery:
Perform regular database backups and recovery operations.
Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
Security Management:
Manage database security by implementing and maintaining user roles, permissions, and encryption.
Ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
Database Maintenance:
Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
Maintain database documentation, including data models, schemas, and procedures.
Collaboration with Development Teams:
Work closely with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
Provide technical support and guidance on database-related issues.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
Provide technical support to internal teams and end-users.
Data Integrity and Consistency:
Ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple environments.
Implement and maintain data validation and integrity checks.
Automation and Scripting:
Develop and maintain scripts for database automation tasks.
Automate routine database maintenance and monitoring activities.
Documentation and Reporting:
Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation.
Generate reports on database performance, usage, and security.
Staying Current with Industry Trends:
Stay up-to-date with Oracle database technologies, best practices, and industry trends.
Continuously improve skills and knowledge through training and professional development.
Capacity Planning:
Monitor database storage and plan for future capacity requirements.
Ensure that database resources are efficiently allocate
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Or years of experience in Oracle administration.
Proven experience as an Oracle DBA with a strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and administration.
Proficiency in Oracle database management tools and utilities.
Experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery, and database security.
Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL programming.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
Oracle DBA certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS).
Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server).
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $69,700.00 - $169,700.00.
