Position Description
Be part of something exciting and join us as a Technician in our Emerging Technologies Lab working for a Top Employer in the UK. CGI are growing our Emerging Technology Centre out of Gloucester and opportunities exist to recruit a naturally inquisitive, creative and innovative Emerging Technologies Technician with a broad spectrum of technical skills across many technology domains. Your future duties and responsibilities
The Emerging Technologies Technician will focus on assisting law enforcement and military to creating novel solutions that aid in fighting terrorism. This could be a combination of managing, maintaining and developing technologies and environments to bring the best out in demonstrations of CGI solutions and ideas to all audiences.

The Technician will be adept as setting up environments and facilities for new demos, stand-up a “playlist” of existing ones, manage existing “static” displays or expand infrastructure capability. The role will also carry ownership of tasks working under minimal supervision, with both technical and commercial responsibilities and interface with a much wider community. Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The successful candidate will be an all-rounder who has both technical grounding as well as creative flair, likely an infrastructure enthusiast with an insatiable attitude to developing good engineering skills, solid grounding in computer hardware, systems, software and networking. Of particular interest is a creative person who can demonstrate experience with server hardware, hypervisors and virtualisation, Linux O/S and an appreciation of application software (Open source). The ideal background would be someone well-honed in Systems Administration but with creative flair around how to set up and present demonstrations. We’re looking for an individual who can impress clients (for example how biometrics or 5g are going to change world), an individual passionate about emerging technology and prepared to ask why and how to meet the challenge of emerging technology.
