We are currently expanding our team of DevOps engineers. If you have a solid Linux background and an enthusiasm for technology, we’d love you to join us. Your future duties and responsibilities:

Our Gloucester-based team has a strong Agile software engineering community that is growing in order to create innovative solutions to solve our clients’ business challenges. To maintain our momentum, we need to recruit DevOps engineers keen to work on leading edge solutions for our clients.

Our teams focus on shared ownership of common goals. We aim for everyone to be involved in development activities including testing and operations. We frequently have direct contact with our customer– the development team can find out and ask questions first hand to understand how to build what is really needed. If you’re interested in the full spectrum of development – prototyping, presenting demonstrations, creating sustainable systems, thinking ahead but not over-complicating for today, this will suit you.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

You will have experience of Linux (RHEL, CentOS or Ubuntu) as a deployment platform and day to day development environment. You will be able to apply your skill in areas including: package management, networking configuration and system environment configuration.

You will have experience of working with a clean slate and adding to your colleagues’ output.

You will be familiar with the following core tools: git, ssh, Unix command line, browsers, Bash.

You will have experience in at least one of: Python, C++, Java or JavaScript.

Desirable skills:

Deep Linux experience – for example, being able to use SELinux, chroot, ssh tunnelling, and describe differences between Linux distributions.

Networking familiarity – for example, being able to describe HTTP protocol or TCP/IP.

Experience of Hadoop or distributed computation.

Security clearance is required for this vacancy. Candidates will need to have or be able to gain a minimum of Security Check (SC) clearance with the ability to attain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. We ask that all candidates be eligible and willing to undergo the DV clearance process.
