Data Scientist (Applied AI & Semantic Technologies)

Position Description:

We are establishing a new Competence Center for Data & AI in Brno and Ostrava. As part of this growth, we are looking for a Data Scientist to support international projects across a range of industries, including financial services, energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, and other sectors.
You will develop machine learning solutions that help organizations make better decisions and improve their processes. Depending on the project, your work may involve forecasting, risk analysis, anomaly detection, customer insights, operational optimization, or regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with AI engineers, business stakeholders, and domain experts.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Develop and validate machine learning models for business and operational challenges across different industries.
• Work with structured and unstructured data, ensuring model quality, reliability, and interpretability.
• Collaborate with business and domain experts to understand requirements and deliver actionable solutions.
• Follow applicable data protection, security, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
• Support model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management in collaboration with engineering and DevOps teams.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Strong experience with Python and machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Professional working proficiency in English (C1).
• Professional proficiency in German (C1).
• Ability to work effectively in an international, distributed team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have
• Experience in one or more industries, such as financial services, energy, manufacturing, or telecommunications.
• Experience working in regulated or data-sensitive environments.
• Experience with unstructured data, text analytics, or NLP.
• Understanding of explainability techniques such as SHAP or LIME.
• Familiarity with MLOps principles and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, or with Databricks.
• Familiarity with graph databases or semantic technologies.
