Position Description

As a representative of the global Enterprise Data Privacy organization, the Data Protection Officer for CGI UK will drive and monitor privacy compliance of CGI’s operations for this country. You will be part of a global Data Protection team of 10, with a wider network of 40+ people. Your future duties and responsibilities
A key responsibility will be to assist and support the Chief Data Protection Officer (CDPO) activities related to the CGI privacy program, coordinate the CDPO instructions at the SBU and BU level, report directly to the CDPO. You will also provide a first point of contact for local regulators, data protection authorities, complainants and privacy rights requests.

You will be required to foster a privacy culture within CGI UK and drive the implementation of the CGI privacy program, (key privacy principles, data subjects’ rights, data protection by design and by default, records of processing activities, security of processing, and notification and communication of data breaches, etc.)

As the DPO you will develop materials, conduct on-going privacy training and awareness activities, inform, advise and issue recommendations to CGI UK stakeholders regarding privacy compliance, where necessary, with the support of the CGI UK legal department, and support identification of Privacy Risk and participate in client negotiations for complex deals.

Overseeing, maintaining and ensuring the maintenance of the data processing inventory (for controller and processor activities) and regular reviews of the inventory to assess the privacy risk will be another part of this role.

The role requires someone to advise CGI’s UK business on whether a data protection impact assessment should be carried out, under which methodology, recommend corrective measures to mitigate any risks to the rights and interests of the data subjects. You will be required to monitor compliance of CGI UK with data protection regulations and document all decisions taken consistent with and contrary to the SBUPD advice;

Contributing to the data incident and notification process once a data breach has occurred, as well as training, coordinating and assisting the company Privacy champions in their activities and ensuring a comprehensive implementation of the privacy program across the business is key to this role also. Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The ideal person for this role will come from a strong legal background with specialization or certification in IT laws and data protection. You will be passionate for technology, with a good understanding of IT environments.

A solid understanding of GDPR is essential. If you are CIPP certified that would be advantageous, but it is not essential.

It would also be advantageous to have come from an Information Security/technical background before moving into Data Protection; however this is not an essential requirement.

You must have strong organizational skills, be able to work independently and with your peers, and have excellent communication and decision making skills. Build your career with us.
