CommVault Backup Engineer
Position Description

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Resolve technical issues associated with CommVault environment software and hardware.
• Provide metrics on demand and monthly as required.
• Responsible for analyzing approved service requests for additional backup and restoration request.
• Implement and configure solutions to meet the requirements
• Design / implement backup solutions to remediate operational issues as part of the incident, problem and change management process.
• Work with the security and compliance team to identify and remediate major gaps as per security and compliance policy.
• Design / implement backup solutions as part of the required SLAs.
• Perform monthly capacity and performance management reports/metrics for backups in order to identify and propose solutions to close any major gaps detected.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Proficient to expert knowledge with CommVault Simpana V9.xx or later
• 3-5 years’ experience with Enterprise Tape Libraries
• Familiar with offsite tape vaulting processes ( Iron Mountain)
• Experience with NDMP and NAS backup processes
• Bachelor's degree preferably in computer science or a related field preferred or a minimum 5 years of systems administration experience is required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required. Dual citizenship not allowed.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in backup planning and operations
• Knowledge of standard project management and milestone based task management
• Ability to work in a multi-project environment and support multiple internal departments
• Knowledge of industry best practice approaches and standards
• Ability to multi-task and effectively work with a geographically dispersed technical team
• Strong technical expertise on backup platforms such as CommVault, Networker and NetBackup.
Desired:
• Current CommVault Certification is a plus
• Knowledge in NetApp Storage platform will be a plus
• Knowledge in NetBackup Enterprise backup solutions will be a plus
• Knowledge in IBM and Quantum Tape libraries will be a plus
