Air Defense Airspace Management/Brigade Aviation Element (ADAM/BAE) SME

Position Description
The ADAM/BAE SME’s primary role is to prepare a Brigade Combat Team (BCT) for deployment. This will be done through the integration of BCT Air Defense Airspace Management (ADAM) and Brigade Aviation Element (BAE) cells into the targeting process, and demonstrating how airspace planning is a critical component of effective ISR and Fires planning.

The ADAM/BAE SME will provide over-the-shoulder teaching/coaching/mentoring for planning, integration, and synchronization of aviation and air defense within the joint construct of the brigade staff.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Provide ADAM/BAE teaching/coaching/mentoring of all ranks, from E-1 to O-4, in both austere field and classroom environments.
• Provide daily over the shoulder guidance as required for planning, integration, and synchronization of aviation and air defense within the joint construct of the BCT during each rotation.
• Provide training instruction and task execution feedback based on current, authoritative sources, such as published Joint doctrine and Universal Joint Tasks.
• Provide viable examples of products needed for the ADAM/BAE to conduct processes and procedures to conduct airspace management and air defense tracking.
• Provide on-site SME to augment training programs’ staff (military Observe/Coach/Trainers (OCTs) during exercise and event execution.

Location and Travel

Primary work location is Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Polk, LA, and occasionally at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) in Germany, Home Base location is negotiable. 65% travel OCONUS and CONUS.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Education:
Bachelors Degree required with acceptable level of related experience.

Experience:

• Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience and have superior knowledge and understanding of Aviation and Air Defense doctrine and T&EOs.
• Recent experience as Brigade Aviation Officer, 140A Systems Tech, Air Defense Officer, or NCOIC for ADAM/BAE or equivalent.
• Have a good knowledge and understanding of how the Integration and synchronization of aviation fits into the BCT’s scheme of maneuver. Provide Knowledge and understand the close integration/synchronization with BCT Air Force Liaison Officer (ALO), Fire Support Officer (FSO), and Collection Management Element (CME).
• Have a good understanding of airspace control planning and coordination for combined arms, joint, inter-organizational, and multinational (JIM) operations.
• Must understand planning for Avenger and Stinger within BCT - coordinating, integrating, and controlling air defense management for the ABCT/IBCT, to include how to develop air defense plans, air defense artillery (ADA) task organization, scheme of air defense operations, and reconnaissance and surveillance planning.
• Must understand how Sentinel Radar can provide local air picture.
• Knowledge of the following systems: ADSI, AMDWS, FAAD, TAIS, AMPS, and radio systems within the ADAM Shelter.
• Possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Understand the Targeting Process and how it relates to Battle staff planning, integration and synchronization.
• Must be physical able to drive military or 4x4 vehicle in and across austere environment.
• Military instructor or observer controller background is a plus.

Security Clearance:

Must have a SECRET security clearance and be eligible to obtain a Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.

• Will be wearing helmet and carrying a light rucksack while in field environment
• When not in field environment, will be working in office environment
