We are seeking a skilled Scrum Master and Line Manager to join our team, bringing expertise in agile methodologies and team management. This role is dual-purpose, serving both as Scrum Master for designated Scrum Teams and as Line Manager to a group of developers at various levels.
As Scrum Master, you will guide the team in adhering to Scrum principles, facilitating team events, and ensuring the efficient removal of obstacles to maintain steady progress and continuous improvement. In the Line Manager capacity, you'll focus on all aspects of managing and developing your team members, supporting their growth and performance outside the Scrum framework.
Key Responsibilities
Scrum Master
- Facilitate all Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Remove any obstacles hindering team progress.
- Ensure team adherence to Scrum practices and guidelines.
- Protect the team from external distractions and interruptions.
- Coach the team on Scrum and Agile methodologies.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Line Manager
- Recruitment: Participate in the recruitment process following established hiring plans.
- Induction: Develop an effective onboarding process for new team members, ensuring they transition smoothly into the Scrum Team. Set initial objectives and conduct performance reviews according to the probationary procedure.
- Growth and Development: Assist new team members in understanding their role expectations and career aspirations. Collaborate with the Scrum Team and individual employees to design and monitor personalized development paths.
- Wellbeing Support: Build positive relationships through regular one-on-one meetings. Provide coaching and, when necessary, direct team members to external resources, including HR.
- Communication: Share company-wide updates and relevant information with the team to enhance engagement and ensure everyone is well-informed.
- Performance Management: Implement ongoing performance management practices, ensuring team standards and objectives are met. Conduct appraisals with input from the Scrum Team and manage formal performance processes, including disciplinary actions, in collaboration with HR as necessary.
- Attendance Management: Oversee annual leave, sick leave, and other forms of absence. Handle flexible working requests in coordination with HR.
Skills, Qualifications & Other Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I, SSM) is required.
- Strong facilitation skills to lead effective group discussions and keep meetings on track.
- Proven ability to coach and mentor team members in Agile practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills for removing obstacles and maintaining team focus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive team dynamics.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and organizational abilities.
