Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Technologist

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the data of geotechnical instruments of several projects at a time. The instruments include vibration monitors, automated motorized total stations, tilt sensors, crack gauges and monitoring wells.
  • Use analytical skills to comb through data, and create reports based on findings.
  • Use remote sensing techniques to identify inaccurate data trends and bring it back to the baseline level through calibration by using the company's geographic information system (GIS) called iSite Central and Microsoft Excel.
  • Assembly, programming and installation of vibration monitors, automated motorized total stations, optical prisms, tilt sensors and crack gauges.
  • Conducting weekly site visits as necessary to troubleshoot equipment, to ensure equipment is constantly being monitored and data is being automatically updated to our GIS system.
  • Conduct pre-construction and post-construction surveys at the beginning and end of most projects.
  • Create baseline reading reports, site visit reports, and pre-construction and post-construction reports.
  • Creates proposals by reading and interpreting geotechnical drawings and creating monitoring plans.
  • Up to 25% average travel (domestic) may be required over the course of a year

Minimum Required Experience

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related discipline
  • Relevant course work must include utilizing with remote sensing and geotechnical GIS software.
  • Must have worked within in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, or PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Up to 25% average travel (domestic) may be required over the course of a year.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.
