Overview
British Gas and Centrica are looking for a Data Science Scrum Master to join them on their exciting journey in expanding their Data Science operations throughout the UK business and eventually throughout their global organisation. The Data Science Analyst role will be based within the British Gas HQ in Staines (TW18), London.
The data science team care about improving our business for our customers and our people. We believe the best way we can do this is through our data, whether it is predicting whether a smart meter can breakdown or evaluating the quickest route for our engineers to travel to our customers.
The Role
This role will be part of an innovative and expanding multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for new development, feature additions, maintenance and support of a number of key components of data science products and technologies. If you love helping teams to explore, visualize and create data products then this role is for you.
As our Data Science Scrum Master you’ll be involved in ground-breaking visionary ideas to deliver Big Data products & solutions.
In doing so, you will:
· Manage the agile backlog of data science projects.
· Help drive the delivery of data science projects and products across the business.
· Work with data scientists, engineers, analayst and Product Owners to ensure successful delivery of data products.
· Ensure consistent use of agile processes and techniques.
· Work with product owners to create, maintain and prioritise the product backlog for development teams.
· Review and update requirements/user stories to ensure they are fit for purpose.
· Facilitate planning sessions, retrospectives, show-and-tells, and issue resolution.
· Manage dependencies across activities for delivery.
· Report on project progress.
The Person
For this role you will ideally have experience in the following:
· Agile Coaching, Mentoring, Communication & Reporting.
· Management of Multiple SCRUMs and dependencies.
· An interest in Statistics, Data Science, and/or Software Engineering.
· Proven facilitator with ability to guide and influence project direction.
· Strong proactive management skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
· Exposure to machine learning algorithms and concepts.
Desirable skills and experience include:
· Knowledge of other work delivery methods such as Prince2 and Kanban
· Excellent communicator who can confidently propose ideas and theories to a variety of stake-holders
· Product Management and product development.
