Overview

Centrica Storage Limited (CSL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centrica plc and is legally, financially and physically separate from the rest of Centrica. CSL operates the Rough gas storage facility in the southern North Sea and the Easington onshore gas processing terminal in East Yorkshire. It is the largest gas storage facility in the UK, providing approximately 70% of space and able to meet approximately 10% of the UK’s current peak gas demand.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an Onshore HSE Advisor to join our team.

What will you be doing?

You will act as a consultant to the Operations and Maintenance Leadership teams on all Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental matters. Advising, supporting and developing relationships with the management teams both on and offshore. Your day to day duties will include:

·  Promote advice and enforce HS&E standards on CSL assets by advising asset management on HS&E legislation compliance, company and industry standards
·  Assist with the development and maintenance of the offshore & onshore site HSE Compliance Plans
·  Lead, assist and support the asset management teams in the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses with the aim of identifying root causes and making recommendations to prevent a reoccurrence
·  Identify unsafe practices and conditions and make recommendations for remedial action and long term improvement
·  Review Company HSE Management System documentation to ensure updates are in accordance with Company and legislative requirements and updates
·  Develop and lead IMT & CMT exercises to ensure continued preparedness and evaluate areas for improvement to build into the exercise plan
·  Identifying, evaluating and sharing best practices with other assets in and outside the CSL organisation
·  Assist the Occupational Health Lead i.e. HAVS Co-ordinator (Hand Arm Vibration), COSHH Co-ordinator, Noise competent person responsibilities, gas monitoring and validation, etc.
·  Actively encourage and establish the participation of CSL safety representatives as means to create a culture and framework that is positive, forward looking, responsive, flexible and focused towards high levels of health, safety and environment performance
·  Participate in the implementation of Centrica’s HS&E policies, management system and HS&E culture

To be great in this role......

You need to be a highly motivated, experienced HSE professional possessing a wide-ranging knowledge of health, safety and environmental systems, practices and legislation. This will be underpinned by experience at a HSE Advisor level within a major hazard operation in a continuous process industry. In addition you will have:

·  Extensive knowledge of asset integrity practices and relevant legislation and must have good understanding of engineering principles as applied in a major hazard operation in the oil and gas industry
·  Diploma, NVQ 4 or equivalent in H&S
·  Highly developed leadership and negotiating skills to enable the motivation of personnel to align with and achieve business objectives
·  Good leadership, networking, decision making, planning, analytical and prioritisation skills; and the ability to influence and communicate at all levels are essential

With our head office in Staines and main engineering office in Hedon, we operate the Rough gas storage facility in the southern North Sea, the York off and onshore gas processing facility and the Easington onshore gas processing terminal in East Yorkshire. Our Rough gas storage facility, the largest in the UK represents around 75% of UK’s current storage capacity. Gas is stored in the Rough field on behalf of a large number of customers, including utilities, gas traders and gas producers. Centrica Storage's commercial team is separated from those parts of Centrica that deal in gas supply, gas shipping, trading and storage procurement
