The Overview

Centrica Storage Limited (CSL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centrica plc and is legally, financially and physically separate from the rest of Centrica. CSL operates the Rough gas storage facility in the southern North Sea and the Easington onshore gas processing terminal in East Yorkshire. It is the largest gas storage facility in the UK, providing approximately 70% of space and able to meet approximately 10% of the UK’s current peak gas demand.

 

We now have an exciting opportunity for an Offshore Mechanical Technician to join our team.

·  Location: Offshore, Rough Platform 47/3B & 47/8A, Southern North Sea
·  Full time, permanent

The Role

·  You will be responsible for mechanical maintenance on the Rough Offshore assets, supporting the Operations Team during platform start-up and shutdown with purging and isolation activities. Your day to day duties will include:
·  Ensuring essential mechanical equipment is maintained for maximum availability
·  Identifying early performance deterioration through condition monitoring and taking the necessary action to prevent plant shutdown and minimise production disruptions
·  Completing routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance and installation of equipment
·  Carrying out maintenance programmes on a wide range of mechanical equipment with emphasis on compressor, generators, diesel engines, cranes, pumps and hydraulics
·  Installing and commissioning new equipment
·  Crane Operator to assist with deck work and boat cargo work as required
·  Responsible for board PZV register and certification and on board TEMPSC readiness
·  Ensuring work carried out by 3rd party personnel conforms to statutory regulations

The Person

To be great in this role you will have...

 

Ideally you’ll have offshore competency training i.e. HLO, Coxswain, First Aider, Crane Operator, IATA, IMDG etc. It is essential you hold the following:

·  A recognised Mechanical apprenticeship or training scheme
·  A minimum City & Guilds or equivalent, with a HNC/ONC or equivalent preferred
·  Extensive experience in maintenance support activities, preferably with experience of multi-skilling
·  Experience of upstream oil and gas or Petrochemicals required

With our head office in Staines and main engineering office in Hedon, we operate the Rough gas storage facility in the southern North Sea, the York off and onshore gas processing facility and the Easington onshore gas processing terminal in East Yorkshire. Our Rough gas storage facility, the largest in the UK represents around 75% of UK’s current storage capacity. Gas is stored in the Rough field on behalf of a large number of customers, including utilities, gas traders and gas producers. Centrica Storage's commercial team is separated from those parts of Centrica that deal in gas supply, gas shipping, trading and storage procurement
