Automation Test Engineer
Location; Rathbone Place, London (5 minutes’ walk from Tottenham Court Road)
Basic salary £45,000 - £55,000 + excellent corporate benefits
You will work as part of an Agile Software development team to help ensure that the code delivered each sprint meets the acceptance criteria. Working with development leads to design and implement end-to-end automated testing solutions across the platform. You will execute automated tests, reporting clearly on individual issues and summarise the results of test runs.
You will carry out exploratory tests, improving or creating tests to increase overall coverage assisting with the creation of test strategies and test plans, and provide work volume estimates for test development and test execution activities. Liaising and coordinating with the Product Owner, Developers and other Test Engineers to ensure a consistent approach and a high quality solution is achieved. In addition, you will work with stakeholders to coordinate releases and make balanced recommendations regarding release quality and risk mitigation.
To be brilliant in this role you will have/be
· Be degree educated or have a commercial qualification
· Fluent in Java or Python within a BDD test framework
· Previous experience in testing APIs, embedded devices and websites ideally in technologies relating to home automation and cloud based solutions
· An understanding of automated test tools, for example Unix scripting languages
· Knowledge of Continuous Integration process and tools would be desirable
· Experience of working with on-shore and off-shore teams
· Familiar with bug tracking and version control tools
In addition
· You will be a fast learner, and have excellent engagement skills with non-technical and technical audiences to lead by example
· With your genuine enthusiasm for testing / quality assurance, you will have a knack for finding the critical test case everyone else has missed
· You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally or in writing, actively seeking information when required to complete a task
· The prospect of working with new home automation technologies, will excite you and you will enjoy working in a fast moving and multi-skilled development team
· You will possess excellent organisational skills and be persistent and thorough, but with awareness of delivery and the bigger picture
