l'Institut de Biologie François-Jacob a pour mission de conduire des recherches en radiobiologie et radiotoxicologie, en génomique humaine, en génomique environnementale et en recherche translationnelle dans le domaine des affections neurodégénératives, infectieuses et hématologiques, en s'appuyant sur les plateformes de haute technologie et l'expertise des unités de la DRF situées sur les sites de Fontenay aux Roses et d'Evry.
IDMIT research centre, at Fontenay-Aux-Roses (30mins south of Paris by public transport) in France provides an environment that fosters education and training opportunities that are ideal to nurture an early career in research. Job description
The position is available in the HSV group led by Professor Marc Labetoulle, for characterisation of newly identified immune responses involved in restricting reactivation of latent HSV1 reservoirs, to be exploited for protective and therapeutic interventions. HSV1 will infect almost all humans at some time in their life, to establish a persistent latent state in sensitive neurons of the trigeminal ganglia. Stress induces reactivation of lytic replication, with diseases caused at peripheral sites by lytic inflammatory viral replication episodes. These include painful cold sores, potentially blinding ocular herpetic keratitis, and HSV1 is implicated in Alzheimer’s disease. The candidate will use advanced molecular and immunology approaches, to further define functional aspects of these immune signatures that are essential for eliciting immunity to reactivation.

Qualification requirements and skills
We seek a hardworking, highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with:
- A recently acquired PhD in immunology, virology, or a similar field
- A strong background in cellular and molecular biology
- Strong understanding of immunology
- Proficiency in professional English
- Competent computer skills
- High level report writing and oral presentational skills
