Understanding the molecular mechanisms inducing type 1 diabetes using a pancreatic islet model on-chip.

Description de l'offre
Project context: Diabetes is a pandemic that affected 463 million people worldwide in 2019, or 1 in 11 adults. Diabetes, type 1 or 2, causes an abnormal and prolonged increase in blood sugar, mainly caused by deficiency or non-use of insulin. In the long term, diabetes can cause many serious complications.
In our lab, we develop and characterize human organ substitutes, organoids and organoids-on-chip. More specifically, our aim is to develop a vascularized islet-model to understand the molecular mechanisms inducing type 1 diabetes, enabling the screening of new therapeutic targets, drug screening and drug development including immunological approaches.
Project description: This project benefits from a-serpentine-chip which we have already optimized and developed in collaboration with the CEA-Leti. The project involves the development of a pre-vascularized islet model, the development of permissive vascular microenvironment on-chip, the analysis of the vascular network development, and immunological approaches.
