Subject
This Postdoc will take place at the CEA–LETI, a major European actor in the semiconductor industry, at the Nanocharacterization platform of the CEA–LETI which offer world-class analytical techniques and state-of-the-art instruments.
In this project, we are looking to extend the metrology with x-rays (CD-SAXS) leveraging the recent breakthrough in the development of low-energy x-ray sources (A. Lhuillier et al. 1988, Nobel prize 2023) called High Harmonics Generation (HHG) sources.
Therefore, you will participate in the development of a new and promising characterization methods called Low-energy critical dimension small angle x-ray scattering. The first set of measurements showed very promising results. The goal of this postdoctoral position is to continue the experimental testing through measurements campaigns at Attolab in CEA-Saclay and to advance understanding of the experimental data through modeling.

Job description
Your mission will focus on several aspects to explore in parallel:
- Develop the experimental set-up to enable Low-Energy SAXS measurements on Attolab's set-up (through punctual mission (2 or 3 times a year for 1 to 2 weeks) at Attolab in CEA-Saclay, Paris);
- Optimize and develop the experimental procedure to improve the data quality collected in November 2023;
- Measure new samples from CEA clean room to study defects inherent to the lithographic process such as overlay;
- Interact and work with a PhD student focusing on the data modeling to understand the acquired data and explore the limitation of the Low Energy SAXS technique;
- Define the specifications required from the source to meet the requirements from the industry.
Applicant Profile
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in either physics, scientific instrumentation. Knowledge and experience with HHG sources are a plus but not critical. Knowledge of programing languages such as Python (and with finite element simulations specifically) would be also valuable.
