Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains confidentiality of all employee records and payroll information
- Works with supervisory staff to ensure that the payroll needs of each employee are met on time and with accuracy
- Audit payroll records, research and resolve imbalances, and run adjustments as needed
- Ensure compliance to all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines such as: CPP, EI, Income Tax, pension & benefit contributions, etc. and coordinate remittances
- Ensures that payroll is in compliance with accounting policies and procedures and proper approvals are received
- Establish appropriate controls to ensure compliance with payroll processes, company policy, and legislative requirements including developing payroll guidelines and processes, ensuring accurate and efficient administration of programs
- Receives payroll sign on packages and sets up new employees or reinstates re-hired employees ensuring all data is accurate and all required documentation is correct and accurate; contacts appropriate supervisors for any missing information
- Ensure that all payroll information, files, and records are maintained in accordance with corporate policies and local statutes
- Processes employee terminations and lay-offs in a timely manner, prepare and file Record of Employment (ROE)
- Ability to guide and coach employees on company benefits
- Responsible for WCB account balancing, reporting and annual return
- Manage the year-end reconciliation processes including: Government reporting, preparation of annual returns, and production and distribution of tax forms;
- Responds to government agencies relating to employees.
May be asked to assist the accounting team in various tasks as time permits
What do we value?

- A minimum of 5 years payroll experience; accounting background an asset
- Must have multi-jurisdictional payroll experience
- Extensive working knowledge of provincial employment standards
- Ability to work autonomously and consistently meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Highly proficient with MS Office products including Advanced Excel and Word
- Demonstrated thorough written communication with the ability to verbally communicate information and ideas in a manner that can be understood by others
- Expertise in SAP a definite asset

Reporting to the Senior Accounts Payable & Financial Controller and working out of our Nisku office, the Accounts Payable Technician is responsible for the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that corporate finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.
