Development Technologist - Specifications Fixed Term

Job location(s): Hereford

This role will be managing New Product Development (NPD) customer specifications. The key part of the role is to complete customer specifications, approve product labels/artwork, respond to customer requirements, advise the NPD team with any technical queries and to assist with the implementation of new products for the business Unit.  You will need to ensure all product developments meet customer, legal and food safety requirements.

Major Tasks

• Completion of customer specifications for all NPD projects across all areas, whilst maintaining close customer contact to build on customer working relations.
• Advise the NPD team on shelf life, nutrition, cook validation and artwork by means of support and approval sign off
• Complete the necessary work to launch promotional products.
• Be the technical support expert for the NPD team, advising Development Technologists.
• Keep abreast of knowledge on new legal, labeling and food safety changes and customer requirements
• Reporting to Development Manager

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in food related, science or engineering subject – essential
• Proven experience working in New Product Development specifications – essential
• Can demonstrate knowledge of Food Information to Consumers (FIC) regulations – essential
• Demonstrate high attention to detail – essential
• Proven experience using major retailers computer systems e.g. TTL, Aspect, MCreate – essential
• Trained and certificated in major retailers computer systems – desirable
• Knowledge of food industry – desirable
• Experience of working within meat/poultry processing – desirable
