Job description

Job location(s): Hereford

The position holder will be accountable for all aspects of Cargill Meats Europe commercial interaction and relationship management up to Buying Manager level, within a strategic customer and others as appropriate and within area of scope. In addition the position holder will develop, manage and implement mutually agreed category business plans in order to achieve profitable business growth. The position holder will also co-ordinate all internal functions which impact the business at category level including; planning, marketing and NPD activity.

Major Tasks

• To provide Category leadership, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to the delivery of business objectives internally and externally. In addition, develop and manage external customer/category business plans to ensure delivery of customer/category earnings and performance targets. Be aware of competitor activity to drive this process.
• Implement regular business reviews with customers, in order to manage all aspects of the customer relationship.
• To achieve volume and margin commitments within the terms of the category business plan. Within this to have responsibility for determine pricing and promotion proposals and to achieve these volume and margin commitments. 
• Accountable for the generation and accuracy of sales forecasts, working with both the customer and FP Planning Manager, as to deliver the highest standard of Customer Service.
• Accountable of the internal write off process in order to minimize write off potential, collaboration with the FP Planning Manager and Materials Procurement Manager to oversee this process.
• Accountability for adherence to all A&P related expenditure within the confines of agreed budgets.

Qualifications

• Business Management degree or equivalent certification/ experience – essential.
• Proven experience within the food industry, with extensive working knowledge of major retailers and category management principles – essential.
• Proven experience of managing/ working with retail and food manufacturing client base – essential.
• Proven interpersonal, communication and leadership skills – essential.
• Strong commercial acumen and numerical skills with the ability to analyse, prioritise, problem solve and multitask – essential.
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills – essential.
• Strong computer skills – essential.
• Valid driving licence and willing to travel extensively – essential.
• Major UK retailer sales experience – desirable.
• Fresh/ Chilled Category Management – desirable.
• Awareness of Food Legislation– desirable.
• Knowledge of retailer specific, management and information systems – desirable.
