Job location: Manchester

Cargill’s Manchester site serves our customers in the spirit, food, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industries.  The plant and offices located in Manchester are part of the Cargill starches and sweeteners business which produces sweeteners and wheat proteins for food customers for customers in the confectionery, brewing, beverage, dairy and bakery sectors.

The purpose of this position is to develop sustainable and value added relationships with existing customers as well as expand our UK business across a number of market segments that we serve. This is a very commercial role with accountability for reaching margin and volume targets and establishing growth through innovation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle from the pre contracting phase through to payment of the invoice. This will also involve utilising marketing tools such as delivering value propositions to customers, and gaining industry knowledge and translating this back into the wider commercial organisation. Major Tasks:

• Strengthen and expand customer portfolio in the UK and Ireland resulting in growth targets (NBD) in line with targets through positioning Cargill as a trustworthy, high quality local producer
• Search out opportunities to develop value creating solutions for the customer
• Promptly identify new customer needs and new potential customers
• Proactively monitor the competitive situation and market and anticipate issues in accomplishing goals set and propose solutions to overcome
• Rigorous attention to detail to follow up contracts, supervise the credit/market risks for the customer and keep accurate reports on customer contact
• Liaise with the supply chain team in order to achieve accurate forecasts for production and raw material purchase

• Successful track record in sales and account management gained in a B2B environment (Pharma, Personal Care, Food industry background would be an advantage but is not essential) 
• Degree (or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience
• Proven new business development capabilities
• Ability to develop relationships with customers and achieve results as consequence
• Knowledge and/or interest in the food ingredients industry and the UK food and drink industry
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Strong, results oriented negotiator
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and drive initiatives without constant supervision.
• Good time management, prioritisation and organisational skills 
• Accurate and precise in the presentation of information
• Change Management skills, able to adapt to business needs, introduce new ideas and apply them
• Customer focused
• Strong collaboration skills to work across the business to deliver results
• Able to travel extensively
