1/ Company:
Carbone Savoie is the world leader in the manufacturing of cathodes for the aluminum industry.
Out of its 2 French sites (Notre Dame de Briançon and Venissieux), Carbone Savoie serves 70 customers worldwide and provides 20% of world market supply. With an annual turnover of approximately US $ 80 million, Carbone Savoie is on its way for growth.
Commercial & Marketing Department is already one of the key activities in Carbone Savoie, in charge of the sales and technical follow up of products to customers.
A pillar in long-term Carbone Savoie’s strategy is to reinforce its position of leadership in the cathode business for aluminium production, and launch some specific actions in China, which we are convinced, can be a strong growth driver.
This role of Business Development in China will report to the Business Development Manager of Carbone Savoie.
2/ Missions:
Under the leadership of the Business Development Manager of Carbone Savoie, the Sales & Technical Engineer in China has the following main responsibilities:
Commercial & Marketing in China (60%) :
Keep updated the homemade model developed by Carbone Savoie to follow the evolution of aluminium and cathode market equilibrium in China.
Anticipate market change, develop clear picture of economic drivers of customers
Identify key accounts
Understand the key buying factors in China
Understand the technical requirement of carbon products
Develop some marketing & sales pitch adapted to Chinese mindset
Develop the Carbone Savoie brand awareness in China
Negotiate trials and contracts with key customers
Coordinates the technical support to customers
Propose product development and R&D programs
Business development (40%):
In anticipation of Carbone Savoie’s growth in China , he puts in place this new activity of Business Development with key stakeholders: aluminium producers, technology providers.
Participate to development of business strategy in China
Develops and maintains the portfolio of projects and strategic initiatives.
Explores the possibilities of organic or outside development in order to meet Carbone Savoie’s strategy
3/ Key relationships :
Strong transversal role between all the actors from definition of the product to product in operation and after sales
4/ Leadership Competencies :
Ensures teamwork with stakeholders in Carbone Savoie
Ability to work with complex and scarce data, assess reliability of data and perform a synthesis out of them

5/ Profile and Skills :
Business school or Engineering degree
Fluent English or French, professionnal Chinese
Risk management
Marketing
Finance
Multicultural understanding
Skills in understanding the carbon manufacturing process
