The Strategy & Operating Model team comprises consultants with strong experience and skills in helping clients to grow revenue, optimise cost and / or improve customer service by designing and implementing improvements in their operating model or core processes and through seamless execution of their chosen strategy. We typically work with Board or senior manager level clients on enterprise wide or department level issues.
Recent projects have included:
- Defining a digital operating model for a government department
- Executing a new customer service strategy for a national bank
- Designing a new business model for a utilities company
- Your role will be to initiate client contact at middle or senior management levels, to support Capgemini VPs and Principals in rapidly understanding and defining business challenges and potential solutions, to build senior relationships and to manage / support the sale of strategic consulting work comprising Operating Model design and Strategy Execution (including programme prioritisation, initiative review, transformation design, hot-housing, proof of concept testing, business case and benefits tracking).
o Consultants will apply analytical and organisational skills to provide understanding, insight and challenge to consulting teams and leadership in diagnosis, solution definition and implementation.
o Senior Consultants will apply domain expertise and methods in areas of consulting capability and/ or industry or sector knowledge; SCs will be experts in the team and support others’ development in one or more area; they will be able to manage a workstream of consultants and client staff within a broader project.
o Managing Consultants will lead the development of domain expertise and methods in areas of consulting capability and/ or industry or sector knowledge; MCs will be mentors in the business and key points of contact for clients. MCs will manage projects without daily oversight from Principals or VPs, and be at the forefront of identifying new sell-on opportunities within accounts to which they deliver.
- You will become instrumental to Capgemini Consulting in maintaining our position as the market leader in digital transformation consulting. You will be familiar with trends in the digital marketplace, interested and aware of the impacts these are having across business, and comfortable in applying the best mix of digital tools and techniques to support our clients.
Capgemini Consulting maintains increasingly high standards for our consultants and in all cases require candidates with:
- Proven intellectual strength. Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent. Post-graduate qualifications (e.g., MBA, MSc) are advantageous but not essential.
- Proven business success. All experienced candidates should provide a track-record of demonstrated business success (with a length of record relative to grade applied for), defined by clear, measurable business outcomes achieved. Candidates will be able to differentiate what they supported achievement of through team working, and what individual contributions they made. Contactable references are advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent presentation and articulation skills. Candidates should exercise outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex problems or solutions in a way in which they are quickly understood.
Specifically, we’re looking for candidates who have experience in the following:
- Strategic thinker able to shape and solve problems using a fact-based approach to drive out insight
- Sector experience – of Retail, Financial Services, Consumer Products or Utilities either as a consultant or in a line role in the sector itself. Understands the current trends and issues in the sector.
- Able to demonstrate experience of developing and implementing operating models.
- Understands the challenges inherent in implementing a new strategy and able to demonstrate experience of a variety of techniques for implementing strategy.
- Able to apply relevant tools & techniques such as strategic and / or detailed operating model design, customer journey mapping, process mapping, business architecture, organisation design, organisation sizing, governance, role design, development of business case
In addition, more senior candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- The ability to generate new business (as well as sell on work)
- The ability to develop and maintain peer relationships with Board / senior management level executives.
- Experience in understanding the strategic issues faced by a client, including the design & delivery of consulting projects to address complex business issues and deliver tangible business outcomes.
- An understanding of the issues and challenges involved in implementing a common operating model
- Proven track record of successful management of strategic project teams
- Demonstrates the potential to be a leader in our business and able to work fully collaboratively across a number of teams

Whilst you will have London as an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.
