Networks will be an advantage. The main duties include media tape handling for client back ups, escorting 3rd Party maintainers, sub-contractors and internal staff, helping out the Installation and Planning team when required. Whilst based at Swindon travel to perform work at different Data Centres may be required. Ability to work as part of a busy team and flexibility are essential. The applicant will be expected to work a number of extra 12 hour shifts to cover holiday and sickness of the other team members during rest periods. The shifts are 7am to 7pm & 7pm to 7am covering 7 days a week, usually 3 days on and 4 days off. This is a guideline only as the actual rota is controlled by the on-site Team Supervisor. Shift start and end times may change which will be subject to reasonable notice.
The applicant must be mobile with a driving license and own transport.
The primary objectives of this team are:
Day to day Data Centre duties – including media loading / uploading, preparing tapes for off site collection and escorting 3rd parties and people without security clearance.
Approval of changes / problem tickets ensuring the risks have been consideredReceiving equipment such as Hardware and Networks.
Responsibility for the Security of the sensitive areas, ensuring adherence to policy at all times.
Use of Team rooms, Asset management software and the Data Centre monitoring software.
Software tools Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint..
An understanding of Change Management.
An understanding of Service Level Agreements.
Basic knowledge of computer and network equipment.
Previous experience in Data Centre environments advantage however full training will be provided. Ability to work in a team.
A flexible approach to working hours and location.
Ability to work with established procedures.
Self motivated and self starter.
