Alongside Application Services, Infrastructure Services and Capgemini Consulting, Core Services is one of the major UK business communities. Its aim is to provide both the processes and framework that underpin the business and specialist expertise to support initiatives.
The role of Global Lead Buyer sits within the global procurement team within Capgemini. The global procurement team is focused on supporting the key business units within Capgemini to drive global cost savings, create and deliver the global category strategies, manage vendor performance through strategic vendor management and to support the in-country procurement teams with regards to global vendor relationships.
The global IT & Telco team is one of the key global categories and is split into 3 sub categories – Hardware & services, Software, Telco & Networks. This role sits within the Software global sub-category which has a total global expenditure of approximately €130M and over 1000 vendors.
Achieve cost savings against both opex and capex expenditure through both global supplier negotiations and also by supporting in-country purchases.
Build a strategic category plan for the respective commodity area detailing key savings initiatives, market trends and a spend analysis globally.
Manage the relationships with both local and global key stakeholders and also with members of in-country procurement team through regular alignment calls/meetings.
Manage the performance of strategic global vendors through a structured regime of supplier relationship management.
Support and help drive key reseller opportunities for Capgemini clients and interface with both external clients and client account teams where necessary.
Ensure all savings and initiative reporting for both global and local initiatives is accurate and conducted in line with the group reporting requirements.
Self starter who is capable of finding cost reduction opportunities and driving these through to completion.
Proficient in drafting complex software license agreements and understanding legal terms and conditions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills to enable building effective working relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and suppliers at all levels.
Professional, resilient and presentable individual
Negotiation skills in being able to deal with difficult vendors and get to a beneficial position
Strong administrative skills, enabling management of back office functions and ensuring accuracy of data, maintenance of contract date, and timely reporting.
Microsoft Office to include word, excel and powerpoint to a reasonable standard of competency
Ability to work effectively as an individual but also deal with “virtual” teams across different cultures and language barriers.

Ability to travel to UK locations and abroad as required.
Established vendor relationships
Previous global procurement experience
Previous experience as a category manager in IT & telco.
Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualified.
