Capgemini UK’s Custom Software Development (CSD) Unit specialises in the use of leading edge technologies, forward looking platforms and agile delivery processes to develop business solutions for large private and public sector organisations. 

The CSD capability teams provide the breadth of skills and experience required to undertake the end-to-end delivery of these systems, services and solutions, helping them to be successful in delivering high-quality solutions to time and budget. The CSD capability spans all of the roles required to undertake the end-to-end delivery of IT solutions to our clients, including Project Management, Analysis, Dev Ops, Software Engineers and Testers, with technical expertise across all of the commonly used platforms and open source technologies (including Java, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM) and leading edge (e.g. SaaS, cloud, OSS, NoSQL). Despite the particular role or technical bias, all of our team are first and foremost Software Professionals, putting Software Engineering and professionalism at the heart of delivery.

We are looking for enthusiastic Software Engineers to join our Open Source and Integration capability team within CSD.

The role of the Software Engineer in CSD is primarily focussed on developing and delivering solutions for both internal and external clients. This will include development of both client and server side software following recognised standards and patterns. With demonstrable experience in Agile software development, you should be a fully competent Designer / Developer with exposure to a range of additional technologies.

 A demonstrable track record of delivering projects based upon the Microsoft .NET Framework and Windows Server platforms

Demonstrable experience of working within a challenging environment

 Experience of working within a team environment

 Good software engineering pedigree

MCPD/MCTS/MCAD/MCSD highly advantageous

Good time management

Understanding/appreciation of a consulting environment in which one may need to proactively seek the best opportunities

Motivated individual, ideally with some experience working within a consulting environment and/or on project based work

Visual Studio 2005 or above (Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio Team System are advantageous)

.NET Framework Version 3.0 or above (.NET 3.0 " 3.5 " WCF " WPF " WF " Silverlight " AJAX experience highly desirable)

C# is essential and VB.NET advantageous

IIS & ASP.NET including HTML, Cascading Style Sheets and JavaScript

SQL Server 2005 with T-SQL and ADO.NET (Service Broker, Reporting Service and Integration Services experience is highly desirable; SQL Server 2008 is highly desirable)

Continuous Integration Build process and automated unit test skills with tools such as Microsoft Team Foundation Server and NUnit are essential

Experience working in a structured delivery framework or process such as the Rational Unified Process or Microsoft Solutions Framework is advantageous

Agile development practices are advantageous

Strong appreciation of Object Oriented Analysis and Design techniques

Able to create and interpret UML artefacts/diagrams

Service Oriented Architecture knowledge is highly desirable

BizTalk Server experience desirable
