Job Purpose and Summary

Canon Cambridge require a Proof Reader to work within their Cambridge Studio, this is a 12 month fixed term contract. Day working with flexibility available on core working hours

Job Role:


The ideal candidate will have a keen knowledge/interest in all service delivery and productivity within a high volume finishing and fulfilment environment – with specific demonstrable skills in the areas of proof reading and copy editing.
A high level of expertise and acumen will be demonstrable for the delivery of assessment materials to exacting quality standards ensuring that the operation achieves its required targets.
A hands-on approach within an environment of conflicting priorities will be a pre-requisite as will the ability to react quickly, effectively and consistently in regards to Quality Assurance.
The ability to work to ISO 9001 Processes and proof correction in accordance with BS 5261C:2005

Purpose of the role:

· To ensure that a high level of Quality Assurance of both confidential and non-confidential materials is achieved and proofs are supplied to zero tolerance levels at all times
· To maintain a good knowledge of relevant house style guidelines for the business streams of the client
· To ensure the maintenance of a high standard of service delivery ensuring the excellent reputation of the Canon brand is maintained at all times
· To work with the Studio Manager to identify and implement immediate and effective actions to address any area or process where KPI measurement has fallen below pre-requisite levels
· To maintain all processes and procedures employed within the in-house confidential print facility in accordance with the requirements of all ISO and BS accreditations achieved, and within the requirements of all legislative requirements

Responsibilities and Tasks

Activities / Tasks:

· To ensure that proof reading marks are followed by the Typesetters
· To ensure that first sets and revisions are thoroughly checked for content in accordance with the instructions provided by the business streams
· To become familiar with the business streams house style guidelines and to work towards these with great consistency

Salary - £26,501 - £29,779 depending on experience
Plus £250 Site Bonus Scheme

Desired profile

Experience Required:

· Demonstrable knowledge of proof reading and copy editing skills
· Comprehensive practical knowledge of marks for copy prep & proof correction in accordance with  BS 5261C:2005
· Excellent inter-personnel experience
· High level of organisational skills within an environment of conflicting priorities
