Job Purpose and Summary

Due to continued growth, Canon Cambridge require 2 skilled illustrators to join our Studio Team on a 12-month fixed term contract offering a competitive salary.

As an experienced typesetter to work on a Canon customer site you will work with the Studio Manager in produce a high level of produced material to the customer standards. A demanding but satisfying role there is some flexibility around working hours. The roles are based at either Whittlesford or Papworth Everard near Cambridge.

The work is varied and so if you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, being part of a team and have accurate and excellent time management skills, then this is a great opportunity to develop your career.

The role is a 37.5 hour working week Monday to Friday, but with flexibility in the working hours.

This role is the illustration of examination material following strict guidelines and house styles. Accuracy is paramount and the roles do not allow for personal artistic freedom.

You’ll ensure that a high level of Quality Assurance work is produced, working on both confidential and non-confidential materials. You will provide proofs to zero tolerance levels at all times.

Working to a specific house style and working with the Studio Manager you’ll identify and implement immediate and effective solutions to issues and ensure that any performance issues does not affect the service level agreements in place with the client. Working through and maintaining processes and procedures within the in-house confidential print facility, you’ll adhere to all ISO and BS accreditations and associated legislative requirements.
Having a ‘hands-on’ approach to your work load you’ll address conflicting priorities and will be able to react quickly, effectively and consistently in regards to Quality Assurance.
The ability to work to ISO 9001 Processes and proof correction in accordance with BS 5261C:2005.

Experience Required:

Mac working Skills

Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator knowledge is essential

Comprehensive practical knowledge of marks for copy prep & proof correction in accordance with BS 5261C:2005

Skills/Attributes Required:

The ideal candidate will have specific demonstrable skills in the areas of illustration, preferably with experience of commercial illustrating, a good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and BSi Proof Mark-up

A high level of expertise and acumen will be demonstrable for the delivery of assessment materials to exacting quality standards ensuring that the operation achieves its required target

Must be able to work as part of a team and under your own initiative in which at times is a high-pressure environment.

The ability to work alongside ISO accreditation programs is required, especially in relation to ISO9001

You will need

With excellent problem solving skills, you’ll have equally good time-management and organisational skills. With personal drive, you’ll seek ways of producing accurate work, with consistency. Being flexible and adaptive as required and possessing good innovative skills.
