Responsibilities and Tasks
Product Marketing Professional
At Canon, this is an exciting time for an experience Product Marketing to be able to demonstrate their abilities and ownership of launching products from one of many of Canon’s award winning products within the Consumer Imaging Group Individuals must have had previous product marketing experience and proven skills in owning and implementing a product marketing plans.
The role offers a strong degree of influence and negotiation is required with internal and external customers to support the execution of the product marketing plan. Will have the opportunity to present to key accounts decision makers and so excellent communication skills are vital.
The commercial aspect of the role requires an ability to determine the pricing, forecasting and budgeting of the product and therefore previous budget responsibility is key to being successful in this role.
You will be responsible for owning and producing a product marketing plan and co-ordinating the creative marketing side of launching a product to market, but you will not be involved in the creative marketing aspects of product development, which is conducted by another team.
The individual has to be able to develop and execute a product marketing strategy for a range of products to strict deadlines.
To help in that process a good understanding of using Excel will be a considerable aid to the individual. Project management experience are key skills to be successful in this role.
Previous experience of Consumer Imaging Products is not essential but you will need to provide evidence of product marketing experience. The innovative element of the role is developing a workable, cost effective strategy of how the product will target the appropriate audience and therefore maximise sales .
Responsibilities and Tasks
Demonstrate product management skills within the UK and Ireland for specific product group.
Co-ordination of company and channel requirements to maximise sales opportunities consistently throughout the year. Understand and appreciate dynamics of product category and wider market to interpret trends and opportunities for growth.
Communication with Sales and Trade Marketing to implement Business Plans.
Work with colleagues in European Head Office to understand and negotiate business opportunities. Liaison with Product Intelligence team to produce materials and training to support product launch, ranging and sell through.
Understanding of Canon segmentation and customer audiences to align product strategy. To provide technical assistance with product positioning for budget and planning purposes.
Technical marketing support for all pre-launch activity ( Press, customers and internal. Proofreading and approval of product content of all central and local deliverables Tracking and administering pre-launch samples.
Develop, maintain and distribute FABs and other product information for communications. Demonstrate product management skills within the UK and Ireland for specific product group. Co-ordination of company and channel requirements to maximise sales opportunities consistently throughout the year.
Understand and appreciate dynamics of product category and wider market to interpret trends and opportunities for growth.
Communication with Sales and Trade Marketing to implement Business Plans. Work with colleagues in European Head Office to understand and negotiate business opportunities.
Liaison with Product Intelligence team to produce materials and training to support product launch, ranging and sell through.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Degree in Marketing or marketing related discipline preferred.
Experience in Project Management in a technical environment ideal.
Excellent photographic knowledge and ideally some experience of video products. Totally proficient in the use of PC's.
Totally proficient in the use of software application packages, including email, spreadsheets (project planning), word processing, digital imaging and presentation software. General software, networking and computer hardware skills are essential. Excellent communicator, presenter, numerate and flexible.
Capable of continuously assimilating technical marketing and sales information through self-study to aid analysis and problem solving

Trade Marketing Professional
A Trade Marketing professional is to develop the UK strategy for a designated channel(s) in line with the European product and marketing strategies, in order to support achievement of the channel sales budget.
The role allows you to develop and execute local Trade Marketing plan for the assigned channel (by product group, by top-account) that supports the achievement of the local business and product objectives and is in line with the pan-European Trade Marketing Strategy and objectives.
Working with Key Account Managers and Account Manager, the role is to design, sell-in and execution of Account Activity Plans for all key accounts, in line with Pan-European pricing model.
Develop channel strategy with the Trade Marketing Manager, UK Sales-Channel Management and European colleagues, as appropriate. Implement plans to achieve pan-European Key Performance Indicators score.
Work in close collaboration with the Sales-Channel and establish effective communication with other marketing teams - Canon Europe and Canon UK. Monitor channel performance and recommend actions based on results. Play an active role in the development of European promotions, Point of Sales and Trade Marketing projects.
Clearly understanding & proactive use of Market Intelligence, Customer and Shopper insight. Develop and utilise an excellent understanding of the local market and the dynamics of the assigned channel. Develop relationships with major customers’ Marketing personnel.
Use Canon Europe Trade Marketing tools and resources effectively, where necessary with high-quality customisation to the local context based on Canon ‘house style’ with Canon UK Sales-Channel to ensure good communication of promotional activity internally and to customer. Manage inventory of promotional items. Produce and deliver presentations with conviction. Track advertising and sales promotion spend from all funding sources in relation to responsibilities and avoid overspend. Evaluate all activity for return on investment.
Carry out regular field visits to improve sales needs and customer knowledge and to communicate aspects of marketing strategy.
