The Overview

BGIS Digital Team are looking for a JavaScript developer to work on our extensive suite of customer facing single page applications residing on www.britishgas.co.uk. You will work as a front end engineer on one of our cross functional, agile product teams to deliver best in class experiences for over 10 million customers on an exciting technology stack.

·  Location: Staines (TW18), London
·  Package: Depending on experience

The Role

What will you be doing?

·  Working as a front end engineer on one of our core agile product teams, you will own the technical implementation of features for your product
·  Ensuring a high level of automated test coverage so we can iterate quickly and effectively.
·  Shaping the evolution of your product by looking at customer feedback, analytics, trends and opportunities along with the rest of your product team
·  Reviewing code and technical designs from your peer developers
·  Sharing development best practices and ideas
·  Contributing to open source initiatives. We love open source!
·  Attending various meet ups and conferences to keep you up to date with the latest trends. We are proudly sponsoring EmberCamp 2016 this year

The Person

What you will have:

·  Strong grounding in JavaScript and HTML/CSS
·  A good chunk of knowledge/experience around frameworks like Ember/React/Angular. Our apps are all powered by Ember, so experience with Ember would be a bonus but not a must as long as you have a good grasp of the basics of modern single page application development with JavaScript. We’ll help you get up to speed!
·  Experience with agile engineering practices including Continuous Integration, Test driven development and opportunistic refactoring
·  Experience interacting with RESTful APIs from web applications
·  Personal drive to stay updated with the latest web application technology trends and practices
·  A passion to build and ship engaging, innovative web applications to market quickly
·  Portfolios, demos of your work that will blow us away!
