Job description
Customer Service Apprentice
When your job has purpose, you’ll be proud to be of service
Here is your chance to train as a Customer Service Apprentice and come on an exciting journey with us, helping people today and securing energy for tomorrow. As a Customer Service Apprentice at our Aylestone Road call centre , you could play your part. You’ll be joining a team of people from many different backgrounds who are united in living our values, doing the right thing for customers, keeping things simple and being extraordinary together.
Looking to do your best you’ll “earn while you learn” and be responsible for resolving a range of enquiries from our residential customers politely and efficiently – whether that involves arranging the repair of a boiler or booking an annual service of the boiler. You’ll take ownership of each call, getting to the heart of the query, deciding the best course of action and providing the kind of service that earns our customers’ trust.
Everyone who calls us needs us, and some of our customers are very vulnerable. As their first point of contact, you’ll make a difference to their lives, so it’s a job with real purpose and satisfaction where your compassion for customers and a passion for providing great service will be all important. If you’ve got outstanding interpersonal skills and take pride in giving your best, our apprenticeship will give you the knowledge to deliver a first-class customer experience.
To take the first step in your customer service career, we need you to be a self starter, hungry to learn and study. You’ll be supported by British Gas throughout but you’ll need to be happy to study in your own time. Previous call centre experience would also be desirable.
The Customer Service Apprenticeship is part of a UK wide scheme aimed at increasing your work based skills as well Maths and English. It is a 13 month Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship, which on successful completion, individuals will progress to become a Customer Service Advisor.
You will be earning while you learn and as well as a competitive salary, you’ll benefit from a quarterly performance related bonus, pension, share schemes, 23 days paid holiday plus bank holidays, company discounts and a host of flexible benefits which can be tailored to suit your lifestyle - retail vouchers, gym membership and healthcare products to name a few.
In short, our apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to work with people who will inspire you. People who are genuinely enthusiastic about our values. People who share your high standards and your commitment to customer service.
British Gas is a leading energy company and part of Centrica, a top 30 FTSE 100 company, so there will also be plenty of opportunities for career progression.
